Write to us
Bug reports and feature requests go to support@supersimple.app. Tell us the device, the operating-system version, and what happened. The version number at the bottom of Continuity’s settings helps too. Please leave out pages, PINs, and recovery keys; we never need them to help you.
Common questions
No earlier years show under today
Earlier years appear only for dates that have a page. A new journal has none yet, so the space under today stays empty until next year. To see how the stack works before then, open settings and add Sample Pages: four years of made-up pages that the Atlas, the Year, and search can show. Remove Sample Pages leaves your own pages alone.
My devices do not match
Sync runs through iCloud. Each device needs to be signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud turned on for Continuity, which you can check in the app’s iCloud section and in the device’s iCloud settings. Changes arrive in the background, and a large journal takes a while on its first pass. If a device has been offline, give it a few minutes on a network before assuming something is wrong.
I forgot my PIN
The recovery key you were shown when you turned the vault on is the only way back in. Enter it where the vault asks for the PIN, then set a new PIN and, if you like, make a new recovery key from settings. The key is never stored by the app or by us, so if it is gone as well, the sealed pages cannot be opened by anyone, including us.
Face ID or Touch ID stopped unlocking the vault
Biometrics are handled by the operating system. If they fail, the vault falls back to the PIN. Check that Face ID or Touch ID is enabled for Continuity in the device’s settings, and that the device itself still has a passcode set; without one, biometrics are unavailable to every app.
The Mood word or an Atlas entry is wrong
Mood and the Atlas are read on your device from your own writing, and inference will be wrong sometimes. In the Atlas, hide an entry you do not want or merge two that are the same person, place, or theme. Neither appears on the writing page, so a wrong guess never gets in the way of writing.
Bringing a journal over from somewhere else
Import from a File reads a plain-text file with a heading for each day, the same layout Export writes. Days that already have a page keep it, and imported text lands below a rule. Most journal apps can export something close to this, and a text file you kept yourself works as well.
The morning notice
On mornings when an earlier year has a page for today, Continuity sends a notice naming the year and how many memories are waiting, never the words. Turn it on or off under Memories in settings. If notices never arrive, check that notifications are allowed for Continuity in the device’s settings.
Focus mode on the Mac
Full screen is focus mode: only the page, edge to edge, with the chrome returning when the pointer reaches the top. Journal, then Focus, or Command-Shift-F.
Something else is wrong
Quit and reopen the app first, then restart the device. If the problem survives both, write to us with the version number from the bottom of settings and what you saw.
Privacy and your data
The Privacy Policy explains where your journal lives and what the app sends us, which is only an anonymous crash report. The Terms of Service govern your use of the app. The data deletion page walks through removing the journal from a device and from iCloud.
