1. Who we are
Continuity is made by Dialect Agency Inc. DBA Super Simple. In this policy, “Super Simple,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to that company. This policy covers the Continuity app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, this website, and our support channels.
2. The short version
We do not collect your pages, the Mood word given to a day, the people, places, and themes in the Atlas, your settings, or anything about how you use the app. There is no sign-up, no profile, and no email address to give us. The app contains no advertising or analytics software and does no tracking.
The one thing it does send is a diagnostic report when it crashes or hangs: what went wrong, the device model, and the operating-system and app versions. Never a page, and never anything that identifies you. The App Store privacy label lists Crash Data, Performance Data, and Other Diagnostic Data, not linked to you and not used for tracking.
The rest of this policy explains where your journal lives, what Apple handles on your behalf, what a crash report contains, and what we receive if you write to us.
3. Where your journal lives
On your device
Every page, each day’s Mood word, the Atlas, and your settings are stored in the app’s own container on the device. They are protected by the device’s passcode and disk encryption like the rest of your data, and they leave the device only in the ways described below.
In your iCloud
If iCloud is turned on for Continuity, pages sync between your devices through the private database of your own iCloud account, using Apple’s CloudKit. That data belongs to your Apple Account. We have no access to your private iCloud database and cannot read, restore, or delete what is in it. Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy policy govern that storage. You can turn iCloud off for Continuity in your device’s iCloud settings at any time.
When a page changes on one device, Apple sends a silent notification to your other devices so they fetch the change. Those notifications carry no page content and do not pass through any system of ours.
In the vault
The vault is optional. When it is on, every page is sealed on the device before it is stored or sent to iCloud, so iCloud holds only sealed pages. Your PIN never leaves the device. Face ID and Touch ID are handled by the operating system, which tells the app only whether the check succeeded. The recovery key is shown once when you turn the vault on and is not stored by the app or by us. If you lose both the PIN and the recovery key, nobody, including us, can open the vault.
In files you export
Export writes one plain-text file with a heading for each day, to the location you choose. That file is yours to keep, share, or delete. Import reads a file laid out the same way and does not send it anywhere.
4. Reading on the device
Mood and the Atlas come from Apple’s NaturalLanguage framework running on your device, after a page settles. With the vault on, this happens only after unlock. No text is sent to any server, ours or anyone else’s, to produce them. The morning notice, which says that an earlier year has a page for today, is scheduled on the device from your own pages and never includes the words.
Sample pages are made-up pages you can add so the Atlas, the Year, and search have something to show. Adding and removing them happens on the device.
5. Crash reports
Continuity uses Sentry, an error-monitoring service operated by Functional Software, Inc., to tell us when the app crashes. A crash report carries the stack trace, the app version and whether it is a development or production build, the device model, and the operating-system version. Through Apple’s MetricKit, the app also passes on Apple’s own diagnostics for hangs, CPU exceptions, and heavy disk writes, which arrive on the next launch. Reports are sent automatically. The iPhone and iPad app and the Mac app report to separate Sentry projects.
A report never carries a page, a Mood word, an Atlas entry, or anything that identifies you. The app sends no user identifier and removes the per-install one the Sentry software would otherwise attach. It records no breadcrumbs, the trail of taps, control labels, and network requests that could otherwise include a line of the journal. It attaches no screenshots and no view hierarchies. It keeps no usage sessions and no performance traces. It attaches no IP address to a report, and both Sentry projects are set not to store one. Reports are processed in the United States and are deleted at the end of Sentry’s retention period.
6. Support
If you write to support@supersimple.app, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use that to reply and to keep the thread so we can follow up. Please leave out pages, PINs, and recovery keys; we never need them to help you. Support mail is kept as long as it is useful for helping you and for keeping a record of what we told you, and then deleted.
7. Purchases
Continuity is free. If a purchase is ever added, Apple would process it, and we would receive purchase and subscription status, not your payment details. We will update this policy before that happens.
8. This website
continuityjournal.com is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, loads nothing from third parties, and uses no analytics or advertising services. Its one script moves the page as you scroll and sends nothing anywhere. It is hosted by Vercel, which, like any hosting provider, may keep standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps) to operate and secure the service, under Vercel’s privacy policy. We do not use those logs to identify you.
9. Children
Continuity is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and since the app sends us nothing that identifies anyone, there is nothing for us to hold. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through support, contact us so we can delete it.
10. Your rights
Because your journal never reaches us, the controls that matter are on your devices: the app, your iCloud settings, and the files you export. The data deletion page walks through them.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information we hold, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. For us, that information is limited to support mail; crash reports carry nothing that identifies you, so there is nothing in them to find or remove. To exercise a right, email support@supersimple.app. We may need to confirm that a request came from you before acting on it, and we will respond within the period required by law. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we will not treat you differently for exercising a privacy right.
11. Changes
We may update this policy when the app, our practices, or the law changes. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. If a change would mean the app starts sending us something beyond what section 5 describes, we will say so plainly at the top of this page.
